Safe & Sound (Hardcover)

In this simple rhyming text accompanied by Loris Lora’s stunning illustrations, children are introduced to a whole host of baby animals and their homes.

All children – no, all people – want to feel safe and sound.  As someone who craves security and is prone to anxiety, I find the unknowns of the world to be my biggest fear.  It’s not healthy to think about the ‘what ifs’ in life because a majority of the time, the worst case scenario never happens.  I’ve talked to my oldest daughter a lot recently about having ‘Wacky Thoughts’ that are just things you tell yourself that are not TRUE. “I’m not smart” “I can’t do this” “I am a mess!”  Change those to affirmations like “I am safe” “I am calm” “I am relaxed!” and see what a difference that makes.

Safe & Sound is a wonderful book that talks about animal families in their homes surrounded by love and safety.  Young chipmunks live underground, while kangaroo joeys need a pouch, and crocodile hatchlings hide in their mother’s mouths. Baby animals are safe and sound with their grown-ups close around.  It is a perfect bedtime story or for any young child that needs to hear that their parents are there to keep them safe and sound.
