Grab the best seat in the house with this funny, touching picture book about a giraffe who keeps being mistaken for a chair!
From the acclaimed author-illustrator of There’s a Giraffe in My Soup, Ross Burach, comes a curious tale about finding one’s courage and standing up for oneself. Full of vibrant and playful illustrations and hilariously absurd logic, kids will want to read it again and again.
Could there be anything worse for Giraffe? All of his animal friends think he’s a CHAIR and take the liberty of sitting on his back. Giraffe is NOT pleased. He first tried to explain that he is NOT a chair. It doesn’t work. He tries to build a chair, but no one cares….they like their Giraffe-chair. He endures a stinky skunk as a chair sitter and was even smooshed by a huge hippo. Giraffe has had enough – until he was sat on my his predator a LION. Yikes! This proves to be a defining moment as Giraffe politely describes he is NOT a chair, but instead of getting angry and HUNGRY, Lion runs off screaming at the ‘talking chair!” Giraffe takes this opportunity to share his experience with his friends who promise to never use Giraffe as a chair again. This story is filled with many lessons, such as having the courage to be yourself instead of what others think or assume you should be. Giraffe was brave and in the end he is happy that he can just be himself – not a CHAIR for his friends. Yay!
