Sorry about that, doing a book review on a rainbow just begged for the opening theme of one of my favorite childhood shows called “Reading Rainbow”. I lived in a small village and there was only one small library so getting your hands on a new book or any great children’s book could take weeks or months! “Reading Rainbow” introduced me to new characters, new stories, and new ideas. Connecting language to books and reading is so exciting for kids and Brie loves her Little Learners books by Parragon that always offers fun little surprises for it’s youngest readers.
Peek-a-Boo Rainbow is a Little Learners Board book that was developed with an educational consultant to support the learning of colors and simple concepts. Each page has peek-a-boo holes you can look through to get a glimpse of the next page and Brie loves this interactive play. Parragon made this book for age 0+ because it helps support hand-eye coordination and creative thinking in toddlers and babies! One thing I have to mention is that my older daughter was with me as I read to her younger sister, and being a bit of a stickler for things, she mentioned that the book got the rainbow colors wrong. Yes, yes, they did – but the book only LEFT OUT the colors of indigo and violet. I’m not an educational consultant, but perhaps purple is a more difficult color to learn or maybe they just didn’t want to make the book even bigger. I just smiled and nodded and said, “Yes, you are right”, “…but it’s still a nice book for Brie, don’t you think?” “Yes, I do.” 🙂
