The Tiny Traveler: Japan: A Book of Nature (Board book)

From the tiniest bonsai to the peak of Mount. Fuji, your toddler will follow a beautiful nature trail through Japan.

My kids and I really love the Tiny Traveler board book series by Misti Kenison because it easily blends travel and other educational concepts such as shapes, numbers, and letters into a board book just for toddlers.  It’s not often that my oldest daughter will listen when I read aloud toddler books to her little sister, but Kenison’s books are different.   They are ‘smart’ baby books that transport our whole family to a new location where we can all learn something new.

One of Kenison’s new books in the Tiny Traveler series is all about the beautiful nature of Japan.  The illustrations are both beautiful and bold, and there are pictures of lovely cherry blossoms, calming bamboo, to amazing volcanoes.  Toddlers can seek and find rocks in a Zen garden and see floating lotus blossoms, as well as interesting fruits like the yellow Japanese plums.

The Tiny Traveler board books are fantastic because your child is able to travel to foreign places within the comfort of your own home.  I imagine my children may catch the travel bug like I have through reading and exploring other cultures, and these board books are a path to a life interested in exotic and fantastic places.  Keep them coming, Misti!

About the Author/Illustrator:  Misti Kenison is a web/graphic designer and owner of MK Design. She is the author and illustrator of a new series of baby board books, the Tiny Traveler series. As a new mom, she believes strongly in encouraging literacy at a very young age, and hopes that this series will be a great tool for other parents to do so as well. Misti, her husband, and their two children live in Little Rock, Arkansas.
