It’s Rappy the Raptor’s first day of school, and he’s having a hard time keeping his cool!
As a parent reading this book to a child, it recommends you rap the words, but I am more sing-song-y with it. I’m definitely no rapper, but the rhymes still come through and we love having a new Rappy book to read. It’s also perfect for a back to school read for young children because it deals with Rappy’s very first day of school and how he handles his new adventure.
What’s today’s date?
I don’t want to be late!
Is it time to go?
Does anyone know?
Rappy is a little out of his element in his new school; from meeting his new teacher, learning new subjects, and wanting to make friends. However, there are also dinosaurs who are much bigger than him and one big dino in general seems quite scary. In fact, Rappy sees him bullying one of the tiniest dino classmates named Aidan and Rappy decides to speak up. He does what he can do best, he raps and rhymes until all the kids are having fun and the bully is no longer a threat. In fact, Rappy makes a brand new friend with Aidan and they become inseparable from that day forward. Parents and kids will snap, tap, and dance first-day jitters away with this funny school story with dino-size heart. CUTE!
