My Shadow (Hardcover)

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me . . .

My Shadow is an illustrated book by the late poet and author, Robert Louis Stevenson who passed away in 1894.  This book is the first time this timeless poem has been illustrated since the 1990s!  Sara Sanchez has created soft and inviting illustrations to creatively interpret Robert Louis Stevenson’s original lines from the poem “My Shadow,” which was originally published in his classic for children, A Child’s Garden of Verses. Sanchez’s pictures are filled with humor and help propel this timeless poem into the twenty-first century. My Shadow is sure to become a bedtime favorite for the whole family.

Children learn that whether they are inside, outside, climbing up the stairs, or jumping into bed; your shadow is always following you! Your shadlow may even be one step ahead as you run down the street.  It’s a wonderful books for kids who are just learning about shadows and the book includes a child’s whole family from their cat, dog, and even a teddy bear!  Little ones who are discovering their shadows for the first time will find inspiration between these pages, while older, more experienced kids are sure to learn new ways to play with their shadows. Get ready to laugh and giggle and then find the nearest light source and try out some shadows of your own!  For children ages 3 to 6, this is a wonderful read aloud as well as a quiet bedtime story.  Both of my girls loved reading this book and we even had fun making shadow puppets after reading.  Hooray!
