I have to admit that as a music freak I wanted to read this book as much as share it with my daughters when they get older. My best friends and I seem to have way too many discussions about music and it is on my brain most of the time. The United States has such a rich history of music for being a young country. The diversity is just incredible from jazz, blues, folk, hip-hop to just good old rock and roll. I have been very fortunate to have been born into a musical family and have been heavily influenced by so many cultural influences from the area I grew up to just moving from state to state. Nomad Press skillfully weaves through a few hundred years of America’s musical genres and encourages young readers to really look and analyze music (love that)! As a (pseudo) songwriter myself, I love that the book wants children to look at meaning and rhythms and try their hand at writing their own songs! I could not have said it better to my daughters myself and look forward to their interest.
