The Presidential Game‏ (Age 11+)

The Most Powerful Game in the World

I have almost an obsession with the First Families of the U.S.A.  I watch all documentaries on United States presidents that I can find and I love all the history shows on the president’s lives.  I watched the John Adams HBO miniseries in awe.  I want to know why these men (and one day, a woman!) want to have that kind of title when so much is at stake.  I love to know about their upbringing and how they came to be political especially ones that did not particularly enjoy the spotlight.  I just finished a documentary on Eleanor Roosevelt and her life and time at the White House was fascinating.  I am not sure what drives this passion, especially being more of an independent non-partisan kind of person, but I do love to understand our country and its history which most certainly centers on our political head.  Certainly we have enough people who think they can be great self-appointed Presidents, so why not give it a whirl and teach your children all about the game of politics!

The Presidential Game feels a lot like our political climate in the United States today and it is a great way to help kids understand about the election process.  It’s a battle of 270 Electoral College votes between the Democrats and Republicans that includes a 20″ x 30″ game board, score pad, red and blue dice, politics cards and 150 red (Republican) chips and 150 blue (Democrat) chips.  Why do all the scoring yourself when thepresidentalgame.com has an online Electoral WebMap™ Calculator that you can use with the included Access Code.  Yes, this is a full on battle to get yourself to the head of the United States but with a lot more fun!  While this is an educational family game focused on ages 11+, you can always talk politics and the voting process with your young children.  This game has already won awards like the National Parenting Seal of Approval and you have to check out all the awesome reviews from ‘The Briefing Room’ portion of the website.  Adorable.

  1. What a great and fun way to teach kids about the Presidential process! I bet I would have been much more interested if I had learned it through game playing instead of memorizing clod, hard facts.!
