Even the most totally awesome story starts with a little bit of nothing. What happens next is up to you! A delightfully meta picture book that will set imaginations soaring.
What a fun and silly book! I know a book is a hit when Brie immediately says, “Read it again!”, as soon as I say ‘the end’. Ha. She really liked the ukulele playing octopus who is trying to recruit rocket scientists to build him a spaceship to travel to a far away galaxy. Oh wait – was that confusing? Let me explain…..
A story always begins the same way – with a little bit of nothing. At least this is how this story begins. You have to add action, drama, a plot, so what do you think will happen next? Only the coolest greatest story you could EVER imagine, of course! It features lots of interesting characters, ideas, twists, until you are really hoping to find out if that purple spaceship is ever built and where it will land. But this is not that kind of story. Oh no! The story leaves it up to you on where you want the story to end and where you want to begin a brand new story. You see, you already have what it takes to write a book! Ah ha! The point of this book is to tell kids , ‘You can write your own story.’ It doesn’t have to completely make sense. But a GOOD story usually teaches you a lesson and this endearing story has a creative personal note attached to it. We can all be writers because we all start with the same thing. We all have a little bit of nothing, right? Right!
“Read it again, mommy!” “OK, ok….but this time you tell me what happens to the octopus next!” “OK!”
