All Natural Make-up by Pure Haven Essentials
So many opportunities to live a happy, healthy life.
I had never tried any Pure Haven Essentials products but I was on the look-out for some all natural beauty products and two of their products caught my eye immediately. I was most excited to see non-toxic mascara and a cheek color stick. I have such a hard time finding make-up that is natural and works well and it’s so important, especially for new and pregnant moms, to use natural products on their skin. Honestly, it’s important for everyone, but most companies do not follow that line of thinking. The problem I’ve had with natural mascaras, though, is that they always run or smudge. I wanted to see why this Pure Haven Essentials mascara was different and if it could really hold up all day.
If you want the truth, the main reason for this review is a recent embarrassing “Meet the Teacher” incident that just happened to me while wearing my other natural mascara. I noticed after looking in the mirror later that day that my mascara had run. It looked awful! No one told me! How embarrassing! I can’t be the raccoon-eyed crazy lady mom at her school! Yikes! I was also interested in the cheeky color stick because (shame, shame) the only blush that has really worked with my complexion is also full of chemicals. It is an all natural color stick that worked for my ‘porcelain skin’ – as it is sometimes labeled on products (also recently I had a color swab that had labeled my complexion as ‘strange’ – what in the world? I can’t help it if I’m a pale person!) – would be awesome. I’m a person not a clown, darn it! Please, oh please, let these products work! I was ready to test them out and give my honest opinion because maybe there are other clown-faced mascara-running moms out there with a need to know!
The Skinny
Pure Haven Essentials Mascara (List Price: $ 17.95)
The jet black, richly-pigmented formulation beautifully coats each lash, from root to tip, adding volume and definition. Pure Haven says that the mascara is long-lasting wear without clumping or smudging (oh, we shall see, we shall see!). This is a NEW product for the company and I was looking forward to hopefully doing a happy dance after using it. The secret, they say, is that you need to ‘twist’ the mascara wand (not pump it because I have learned pumping mascara wands is BAD) to get the proper amount of product for application.
Ingredients: aloe barbadensis (organic aloe vera) leaf juice, glycerin (vegetable, non GMO), citrus aurantium amara (orange blossom) flower water, glyceryl stearate se, beeswax (organic), cetyl alcohol, leuconostoc/radish root ferment filtrate, carnauba wax (organic), stearic acid, hydroxyethylcellulose (cellulose gum), *iron oxide (CI 77499) *non-nanoparticle
Pure Haven Essentials cheeky color stick – rouge (List Price: $ 9.95)
Pure Haven Essentials cheeky color stick is rouge made from the very best ingredients and NO harmful chemicals. It’s made to wear as an every day blush to give your cheeks a natural flush in a rouge color and not in a CLOWN red as I’ve been used to getting in products designed for light skin. I have high hopes!
Igredients: Butyrospermum parkii (organic shea butter), cocos nucifera (organic coconut) oil, *zinc oxide (non-nanoparticle), cera alba (organic beeswax), helianthus annuus (organic sunflower) seed oil, prunus amygdalus dulcis (organic sweet almond oil), cedrus atlantica (organic cedarwood) oil, organic lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, *mica, *iron oxide (CI 77491) *non-nano particle
My Experience with Pure Haven Essentials All Natural Make-Up
Pure Haven Essentials Mascara: I was extremely excited to try the new new Face Essentials Mascara, which just launched. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with natural mascara because it gets quite hot and humid in Austin for a majority of the year and I have some issues with mascara running. UGH. I read all the ingredients and directions on this mascara so I could make sure I was applying the product properly and see how it held up in the heat. Pure Haven Essentials recommends that mascara users twist the wand rather than pumping it to get enough product for each application. The information warns that pumping the mascara wand could cause leakage and twisting this magnificent brush adds just the right amount of mascara. The directions say to apply the mascara from the root to the tip and it is good to use on both the upper and lower lashes to give your lashes length and full appearance. I was most surprised to find that the mascara actually has a nice smell. The ingredient of orange blossom flower water is used as a skin conditioner, but it is also used in aromatherapy to help relieve stress and has a very uplifting scent. I really enjoyed having a sweet-smelling mascara, and honestly wasn’t something I had ever thought about before.
Then the REAL test…..could this mascara not run after an entire day of Austin’s over 100 degree heat of August? Well….yes! And, I’m going to show you – no filter – a picture of me at the end of a long day after wearing Pure Haven Essentials Mascara that I applied at roughly 5:30 in the morning. Sure, I look tired and not particularly happy (it was a really hot day and we just got the toddler down for bed), but I have no raccoon eyes! YES! To me that is a win. However, now after seeing this picture I’m thinking I need to find some serious cover-up from Pure Haven Essentials for under eye bags. HA HA. Oh well! That will be another post, I’m sure!
Smile, Momma! Your mascara’s NOT running….
Pure Haven Essentials cheeky color stick: I am always hesitant to try rouge because I have a very light complexion. Pure Haven Essentials cheeky color stick comes in a light shade or rouge or coral. The stick glides on easily and it’s easy to apply the color lightly and blend. The stick has a lovely smell (thanks to the sweet almond and lavender oil) and it contains Shea butter and coconut oil along with beeswax so it is easily to put on but it holds its composition and doesn’t melt in the heat. While the ingredients like Shea are natural UV protectant, it’s important to note that this product is not a sunscreen so you will still need to apply your usual UV protection to protect yourself from sun damage. The coral shade works so well with my skin tone and gives my face a healthy looking glow that I have not been able to achieve with other natural rouges I have tried. Side note, I also applied the color stick to my lips for added color on several occasions and it works well as a nice tinted chap-stick! Dual-duty! Yay!
No Filter – Early Morning! The Cheeky Color Stick gives my face color without overpowering my skin tone.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with both of the Pure Haven Essentials products. It’s hard to find cosmetics that are safe and non-toxic that also work well, and I’ve certainly never had mascara and rouge that smell as nice as these. Thank you essential oils! Honestly, I’m just happy I found a non-toxic mascara that doesn’t run. Hallelujah. I’ve really learned two things. 1. You can find good all-natural cosmetics and 2. Always tell a momma when her mascara is running. Seriously. It’s the nice thing to do!

Hi! I’d love to try the mascara. I don’t see it on the Pure Haven website. Do you know if Pure Haven is not selling it anymore? Are they reformulating? Was there something wrong with the original formula? Thanks!
Oops, I made an error in my email address and I’d like updates!
LOL! OK. I’ll put my reply again so you get it! 🙂
Hi Michelle! I’m not sure why Pure Haven is not selling their mascara right now. I’ll have to find out! Another natural mascara I like is by http://www.100percentpure.com and they have an assortment of fruit pigmented mascara. I like the Black Tea color. 🙂

Thank you for the tip!!
Also, FYI I found the Pure Haben mascara in their spring 2017 catalog online, but not on their website.
The consultant I went through no longer works there, but email CustomerService@purehavenessentials.com to find out why it’s not available for purchase on their website. That is strange!
Thank you! I might check out the other one you recommend!
I just tried henna tinting on my eyelashes for the first time. Works great but it’s $25 per treatment and it wears off within 4-6 weeks. I am thinking about looking into a home kit! ☺️. The trick if applying while using something to block the tint from getting under your eyes. Might be tricky to do on my home. ? TBD! Lol.
