Timeless Skin Care (Beauty for Moms)

we like to keep it simple and effective.

I like the ‘pure’ concept of skin care and as a (tired) mom with two young kids and a full time job, I am concerned about taking good care of my dry skin so it stay hydrated and I don’t look as tired as I feel.  I was intrigued by Timeless Skin Care for two simple seasons; 1. the products are quite cost effective and 2. if you really don’t need all of the added ingredients in skin care products, I would love that!  What’s really great about Timeless Skin Care is if you happen to really love one of their products, they offer them in ‘refill’ sizes so it’s like the Costco prices for the beauty world.  I imagine when you spend a lot of money on an anti-aging product, you are also paying for the company’s advertising and packaging fees and Timeless Skin Care products look simplistic and unassuming.  I honestly don’t care about packaging for my skin care products, as long as it WORKS.  So I decided to give Timeless Skin Care a go as a nice ‘happy birthday’ gift to myself (happy 37th to me!) and report back on how I liked two of the products in their catalog.  Fun!

HAHyaluronic Acid Serum 100% Pure (List Price: $ 8.95) http://www.timelessha.com/anti-wrinkle-serums/

The Hyaluronic Acid Serum is Timeless Skin Care’s best selling serum that is basically just formulated with hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic Acid just happens to be one the most powerful hydrating and moisturizing ingredients on the market today. It can holds up to 1000 times its weight in water.  Yes, Wow.  Timeless uses a 1% formula, which is twice the amount of hyaluronic acid that is used in other skin care formulas.

About hyaluronic acid:  Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the human body and is found mostly in fluids in the eyes and joints.  It can be produced from bacteria in a laboratory.  People use hyaluronic acid for a variety of reasons, and medically it is taken for various joint disorders like osteoarthritis  and well as used in certain eye surgeries like cataract removal.  Interestingly, it is also used in cosmetic surgery for lip fillers!  Some people apply hyaluronic acid to the skin for healing wounds, burns, skin ulcers, and as a moisturizer and research has shown that it can reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  There are little known side affects of hyaluronic acid although there is a chance of an allergic reaction.  Although it is possibly safe for pregnant and breast-feeding mothers, it’s best to err on the side of caution and not use it if you are either.

Features:

  • more actives, less chemicals.
  • non-greasy (if applied correctly)
  • dries fast and clear.

VA20% Vitamin C+E Ferulic Acid Serum (List Price: $ 24.95)

The Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum contains Vitamin C, an antioxidant that evens skin tone and helps build collagen. The serum also contains vitamin E and Ferulic Acid which is used to extend the life and effectiveness of vitamin C. A 20% concentration of L-ascorbic acid is in the formula for maximum benefit and the product is guaranteed fresh and effective for 3 months.

What is Ferulic Acid?  Ferulic acid is an antioxidant that is becoming very popular in the anti-aging regimen market. It’s found naturally in the seeds of fruits like apples and oranges, as well as some vegetables, nuts, and grains.  The acid actually fights the free-radical damage that contributes to aging!  There are little known side affects of ferulic acid although there is a chance of an allergic reaction.  Although it is possibly safe for pregnant and breast-feeding mothers, it’s best to err on the side of caution and not use it if you are either.

Features:

  • non-greasy
  • dries fast and clear
  • natural and paraben free
  • cruelty free
  • more actives, less chemicals
  • no color dye added.
  • no fragrance added.
  • made in the USA

My Thoughts:  I had to do a little research to see if I could use ferulic acid and hyaluronic acid on my skin at the same time, and the answer is YES.  There are actually many anti-aging serums on the market that contain both.  However, since I have sensitive skin, I decided to try both products separately at first to see if I had any allergic reaction to either.  Luckily, I don’t!  Yes!  It also gave me a little insight to how each of the products work alone and then together.

The Hyaluronic Acid Serum is very hydrating and it’s something I noticed right away since I normally have very dry skin.  Apparently, the hyaluronic acid seals the water into your skin and keeps it from dehydrating.  I found it was best to put on after a bath or shower (or damp skin in general) and I liked how soft it made my skin that I started adding drops of it to my body lotion.  What do you know?  It worked!  Amazingly, the very fine lines around my eyes and laugh lines started to diminish after a few weeks and I was like, “What?”  I didn’t really expect it to work so well.  This one is definitely a keeper.

The Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum is a great moisturizer and somewhat smells like baby oil to me.  I didn’t notice a big difference as far as anti-aging, but it gave my skin a nice glow and I even got a few compliments and how clear and nice my skin looked at my oldest daughter’s birthday party.  I was exceptionally tired that day, so that was a real treat and the only thing I had been using was this serum.  Nice!  I also researched other like-serums and found that most contained other toxic risk ingredients while this serum did not.  Crazy, huh?  That made me like this serum and company even more.  The only downside is that the serum doesn’t last long (three months for a 1 oz bottle before it expires) and it’s important to keep it refrigerated to save it’s shelf life.  While Timeless does have free shipping, I don’t think I’d buy a larger bottle because I’d be afraid it would expire before I used it up.  Darn.

For the fun of it, I start to use both products together each morning and night, and I really liked how they worked together.  My skin feels so fresh and I do not need to exfoliate as much as I was before.  It’s been a real treat.  I do think I could get by on just using the Hyaluronic Acid Serum and I am planning on getting it in a refill size next.   Oh, and I really want to try out the Timeless microneedle dermaroller now.  I’ve never seen anything like it, but it sounds like it’s a great skin treatment for their products and it’s only $8.99, so I think I will test it out next.  Oh la la!  I am really happy with the Timeless Skin Care products I tried and I am now a definite believer in Hyaluronic Acid Serum!  My skin thanks me for it!
