The Read & Play Puppet Theater series invites you to read and play along with your favorite fairy tales.
When we first began taking our girls to plays around Austin, it has really taken me by surprised at how much these plays have influenced their lives. Brooke, who always had a wild imagination, has solicited her little sister in her own homemade plays and Bob and I have spent many an hour watching them ‘perform’ their ‘off the cuff’ plays. It usually entails a lot of songs, dances, and stories about school; you know typical toddler and almost-first grader stuff!
Since I was a theater junkie when I was a kid (my very first play was called Kiddlywinks and I still remember a few of my lines as Clarice!) and after a spring break camp at the local ZACH theatre, Brooke may want to follow in my footsteps. We want to encourage her creativity and I just learned about the very cool Read & Play Puppet Theaters through Quarto Knows. Three words: They are AMAZING! Read & Play Puppet Theater allows your child to not only read your favorite fairy tales, but also act them out on stage.
The Read & Play Puppet Theaters come in a box that can be used as a stage and contains puppets, set pieces, and a book of fairy tales. Each tale includes a shortened script and will capture the attention of event the youngest children. All you need to do is to set up the pieces, get the puppets ready, and let the performance begin! Each boxed set contains a foldout puppet theater, a book of three fairy tales with shortened scripts and prompts, 5 colorful set backdrops, and 9 double-sided paper puppets. Basically, your child will have everything they need to have their very own THEATER. SO COOL!
Princess Tales (featuring Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty) came out last summer, although I just recently learned about it. It’s a wonderful way to encourage creativity through theater and play. Read & Play Puppet Theater invites you to read and play along with your child’s favorite fairy tales. The illustrated box doubles as a theater stage and travel case for puppets, backdrops, and a book of three fairy tales – Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. Brooke is in love with this set and we often hear her playing in her room and making up different plays with her stage and props. It’s awesome.
Wolf Tales is scheduled to hit bookshelves in a few weeks so we got a sneak peek! This Read & Play Puppet Theater allows you to read your favorite fairy tales and act them out on stage. The box, like Princess Tales, can be used as a stage and contains puppets, set pieces, and a book of three fairy tales: Little Red Riding Hood, The Wolf and the Young Kids, and The Three Little Pigs. Much like the earlier Read & Play Puppet Theater, each tale includes a shortened script and will capture the attention of even the youngest children. The boxed set contains a foldout puppet theater, a book of three fairy tales with shortened scripts and prompts, 5 colorful set backdrops, and 9 double-sided paper puppets. Just set up the pieces, get the puppets ready, and let the performance begin! Brie is fascinated by The Three Little Pigs story and loves playing all the characters together. Ha!
While my daughters both love playing theater with this series, their tastes for each set differ (Thank Goodness!) and Brooke loves the Princess Tales while Brie is all about Wolf Tales, especially The Three Little Pigs. The recommended age range is 4-6 years, but our toddler enjoys playing theater without having to use a script. Brooke, on the other hand, loves being able to read and use the script for her Princess plays. She is really into Cinderella and while she probably has the short script memorized by now, she has begun to elaborate on the plays and they’ve become even more complex. I promise I’m not pushing them to be theater geeks, like I was, but because I see their enjoyment of going to plays and role-playing games, I realize that fun tools like the Theater and Book Series by Quarto Knows is a great way to capture their attention and imagination and keeps Brooke busy for hours. I love buying toys that I consider both fun and educational and this one hits the mark. I’m very impressed by the quality and price of these exciting production-oriented books! Kudos to Quarto Knows!
