Debut author Mylisa Larsen teams up with Babette Cole, author-illustrator of Princess Smartypants and Dr. Dog, to present a bedtime story like you’ve never seen before!
Getting ready for bed is hard.
It’s even harder when you’re getting your parents to bed. But come on; give it your best try. I’ll help you.
Follow my instructions.
AH ha! Another debut picture book author this week and Mylisa Larsen’s tongue-in-cheek bedtime story is a fantastic role reversal between parents and a child on going to bed. I may have loved this book more than my girls just because I can SO RELATE to being totally exhausted at the end of the day and after getting the kids to bed there always seems to be a million things left to do. I’m sure Bob and I can look like total zombies some days, but there really is a lot to do…..right?
In How to Put Your Parents to Bed, it’s the the little girl who notices her parents should get some shut eye! SERIOUSLY! She can tell they are sleepy and Babette Cole’s hilarious watercolor illustrations show two exhausted parents trying to do laundry, clean the dishes, and on their cell phones when they should really be napping. This sweet, adorable child knows this is a huge task, but she wants to make sure her parents get the sleep they deserve! This has never actually happened to Bob and I in real life – yet – but Brooke and Brie suddenly became aware that parents need sleep, too. Ha ha. As it says in the book, “Follow the instructions in this book and you’ll have (your parents) snoring in no time.” Lovely. Can I give this book three thumbs up or am I just deliriously tired? Ha!
