Join Cecelia cat and her friends on a fun-packed day at playgroup. Packed with puzzles, oodles of doodles, and things to spot, color, and make, you’ll find lots of things to do in this exciting puzzle activity book.
Wee Gallery has been on my radar since Brooke loved one of her Christmas stocking stuffers of a fun activity book on 32 Ways to Dress a Bunny back in 2012. Wow! I was excited to learn that QEB Publishing (distributed by Quarto Publishing USA) and Wee Gallery decided to team up and have a partnership that has produced a new range of engaging educational content for pre-schoolers. Yes! QEB just announce that Wee Gallery and the publishing company have a visually stimulating series that just became available for purchase in Spring 2016 and Brie loves the Cat’s Playgroup activity book.
Activity books were something we used a lot with Brooke when she was a preschooler and I think has helped her become engaged with her homework and activities that she does now. When children are allowed to creatively interact with books, they start to understand how they can affect the story of a book and I love seeing Brooke and Brie’s imagination at work. What I love most about Cat’s Playgroup activity book is that there are so many fun items to color and create as well as providing opportunities for Brie and I to work together to doodle, find, and enjoy this book together. It’s fun to have to scribbles turn into something she wants it to be and I can start seeing more and more definition in her work. I like to label what she is drawing based on her definitions because it was so helpful and useful when I did that for Brooke when she was younger. We actually went through one of her old activity books recently and it’s amazing to see the growth in her artistic endeavors. Things that looks like squiggles and random lines have developed into her artwork that contains specific detail and it’s not that often that I don’t know what she has drawn anymore. It’s fantastic and I think encouraging Brie to do the same is something that is exciting for her and me. Preschoolers can often struggle between what they want to do and what they are able to do at this age, so the new line of Wee Gallery books is a way to bridge the gap by putting an emphasis on defining children’s creations which inspires them to continue to work on their skills.
Cat’s Playgroup is, of course, a beautifully illustrated activity book in fun bold patterns and lines that is meant to engage and stimulate visual development in children. We really love that the dust jacket folds out into a poster, too! For whatever reason Brooke and now Brie like to take the dust jacket off books, and while Brooke has outgrown that phase, I loved that Wee Gallery understands their audience and incorporating additional use and purpose for the jacket is fun. Brie attends preschool so she has a lot of ideas of things children her age do together in playgroups. We also chose this book because, as cat owners, she gravitates toward kitties and Cat has many different animal friends in the book which she enjoys. I am loving the Wee Gallery collaboration with QEB Publishing and look forward to more activity books in the future.
