I’m Cool! (Hardcover)

For fans of all things snow and ice comes the latest addition to this hilarious read-aloud series from the popular creators of I Stink! and I’m Dirty!: the ice-cold Zamboni machine!

Any little ice hockey fans in your house?  Have I got a book for you!  We’ve been fans of Kate McMullan books since we first read I’m Brave! about a fire truck.  Her books are always educational, filled with onomatopoeias, and with interesting illustrations for children (and parents!) who love to read about the machines in our lives.  I’m Cool! focuses on an ice-cold Zamboni machine who cleans up the ice during an ice hockey game intermission.  It’s a great read aloud books (warm up your voice for a bunch of BUZZZZZes and SluRRPPPSSS!) and it’s a fast-paced frenzy as the Zamboni needs to get his slow-moving ice fixer to smooth the ice before the next period of the ice hockey game.  Quick, Quick!  The timer’s going!  Will the Zamboni get his job done on time?  McCullan’s book is charming and her husband, Jim, once again fascinates with his wonderful drawings.  This is a great book for winter.

About the Author:  Kate McMullan is the author of many books for young readers, including I Stink!, winner of a Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor; I’m Mighty; and Meg’s Prairie Diary, a historical fiction trilogy set in St. Louis and Kansas in 1856. She has been fascinated by the Lewis and Clark Expedition since the age of ten, when an uncle told her about an ancestor who had gone on the expedition. That ancestor was sixteen-year-old George Shannon. Ms. McMullan lives in New York City and Sag Harbor, New York, with her husband and collaborator, noted illustrator Jim McMullan, their daughter, two cats, and a dog
