Choose Big Buckets of Zombies for a Healthy Halloween Handout!
I feel very fortunate that my kids do not have any serious food allergies, but I know families that are not as excited about Halloween because of allergies. They are not alone, there are an estimated 6 million children (an estimated 15 million Americans have food allergies!) with food allergies and there are many that are severe and can be deadly. With Halloween creeping around the corner, kids are gearing up to trick-or-treat. This is a fun time to dress up and get treats at every door and the Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) is encouraging families to participate in a new Halloween tradition: The Teal Pumpkin Project.
The Teal Pumpkin Project is a national campaign that encourages parents to offer non-food treats for children with food allergies. It’s an easy thing to do and participants can mark their intent by placing a teal-colored pumpkin in their yard to inform trick-or-treaters they have non-food Halloween handouts.
BUT, if I don’t hand out candy, what should I hand out? Well, SCS Direct has a cool and inexpensive answer – their BIG BUCKETS of ZOMBIES or MONSTERS for sale for the season and for the price of $19.99 through Amazon Prime where you can get 100 Glow in the Dark miniature Zombie figures! It’s a great alternative to candy and a fun way to support families who have food allergens.
