When Officer Panda notices some strange fingerprints in his neighborhood, he sets out to solve the curious case.
This title will be released on October 27, 2015.
I’ve been fingerprinted many times for work background checks over the years and it is an easier process as new technology comes out. It was probably just fifteen years ago that fingerprinting was mostly done with ink and paper and now it’s all digital with even a lot of childcare providers using parent’s digital prints for identification. Your fingerprints are unique to you so it’s actually a good way to distinguish one person from another. I love books for my kids where they can learn new things and Brooke and I enjoyed reading one of HarperCollin’s new children’s books called Officer Panda: Fingerprint Detective that deals with a particularly puzzling case of mysterious fingerprints that needs to be solved.
Officer Panda: Fingerprint Detective is a delightful book that deals with a puzzling mystery of many fingerprints that show up in various places much to the bewilderment of a particularly thorough police-bear named Officer Panda. It’s a cute and funny book and it got Brooke and I talking about our unique fingerprints and how each person’s prints can be distinguished. The ending is silly and quite creative (hint: the fingerprints are left by little readers and I think it would be a great addition to a children’s library where it will see its fair share of children’s fingerprints!) and the book has a cool “Did You Know” section in the back so that readers can learn all about fingerprints including the main three patterns on our fingertips. This is definitely a book we can read and re-read many times and it never looses it’s appeal to those of us who love the absurd with a mix of some interesting elements of learning something new.
