Lucy Lil Peanut Woombie Doll (Pre-K+)

Swaddle. Snuggle. Sleep.

We have been HUGE Woombie swaddler fans since we brought our older daughter home from the NICU and needed a preemie sized swaddler.  My husband, whose older brother died of Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), was adamant we would not swaddle with blankets that could come loose in her crib (see other SIDS prevention tips below) and she had grown accustomed to being swaddled in the NICU.  The snug fit of the Woombie was just what Brooke wanted and though we began calling her ‘Bug’ from her swaddle, it worked wonders.  The awesome thing is Brooke is becoming a BIG sister to another little bug and the genius behind Woombie, Karen Barski, has come up with another amazing product that is perfect for a big brother or sister!

The Woombie Lil Peanut dolls come in both a boy (Oliver) and girl (Lucy) doll version that requires a big brother or sister to take care of them. Besides, of course, all of the love, kisses, diaper changes and hugs, Lil Peanuts also need their own Woombie swaddle!  Adorable!  Of course since Brooke has a little sister, we wanted Lucy as her Lil Peanut doll and it is the cutest thing ever.  For parents who swaddle and those who are ushering in a new baby with an older sibling, this is the perfect big brother or big sister gift to make them feel special.  The swaddles are really mini-Woombies complete with zippers, snaps and correct positioning of the baby’s arms.  Lucy comes out of the swaddle to play with separately and has a removable diaper.  Love it!

Reducing the Risk of SIDS:  As you can imagine, my husband and I became informed on the prevention of SIDS before Brooke’s birth.  My husband felt very strongly that I needed to add the importance of having breathable fabric (for example, the Woombie is 95% cotton fabric) for an infant to this post as well as adding the link to the American SIDS Institute prevention page.  Babies are at risk for SIDS their first year of life, but it seems especially between the ages of 2-4 months.  We took every precaution to prevent it based on Brooke’s pediatrician’s recommendation; although doctors do say there is no guaranteed way to prevent it since they are still not 100% sure what causes it.  However, it is said that since pediatricians started recommending that babies sleep on their backs that the number of cases of SIDS in the U.S. has dropped by 40%.

    • I’m sorry to hear that, Maggie. We had a lot of sleepless nights at first from worry, but back sleeping and swaddles like Woombie are fantastic. Also don’t use crib bumpers. While cute, babies can get tangled in them. We also invested in a video monitor which was a lifesaver when she moved to a crib at 6 months (she was in a bassinet in our room before that).

  1. SID is a such a scary thing. I also used swaddlers with all of my boys (I could never do it right with the blankets anyway!). We also had a video monitor with my 2nd but I would just spend all night looking at it and never sleeping…….

  2. Thanks for all the information and the link to the giveaway. My kids were preemies too an dwe used swaddlers. One less thing to worry about. Although you still worry anyways.
