Bunk 9’s Guide to Growing Up: Secrets, Tips, and Expert Advice on the Good, the Bad, and the Awkward (Paperback)

Welcome to Bunk 9—and a new girl-powered puberty book girls will want to read.

Welcome to Camp Silver Moon, where a cherished journal detailing the mysterious changes of life has been loving passed down to the next generation.  Vetted by a pediatrician,  this is the first guide to not only surviving by also owning all the first that come with adolescence, written to help girls and their parents get through it with confidence.  This book is aimed to be a tool for girls ages 8-12 dealing with everything to pimples to how bodies change.

“Find the good in puberty, and focus on that.  You might not love everything about puberty, but you can always fun something fun about it.  Homemade acne remedies, pretty bras, and keeping a puberty journal are just a few of our favorites.” – Makayla

Based on the lively conceit that it’s written by nine older girls at a fictional summer camp who share their collective been-there, done-that experiences, Bunk 9’s Guide to Growing Up is a puberty book with a twist, an entertaining, up-to-date, supportive guide that covers the head-to-toe changes that young girls go through as they grow up. Since it is written in the voices of different girls, reading it is like listening to your best friend or older sister giving no-nonsense information, advice, and tips on menstruation, breasts, hygiene, health and nutrition, boys, and all the complicated feelings that go along with these changes. Filled with callouts, doodles, and margin notes, it’s a book that’s gentle enough for a third grader and thorough enough for a middle schooler.

About the Author:  Adah Nuchi grew up in New York and spent her summers at camp where she learned (almost) everything she needed to know about being a woman. A former children’s book editor, she is now a freelance writer and going on adventures.

About the Illustrator:  Meg Hunt is an illustrator and maker of things.  When she’s not reading, exploring, or learning, Meg is discovering the world through her illustrations.
