Al Roker’s Extreme Weather: Tornadoes, Typhoons, and Other Weather Phenomena (Hardcover)

New York Times bestselling author, award-winning meteorologist, and Today Show co-anchor Al Roker explores extreme weather phenomena in his first book for kids.

Dive deep into a world of fascinating weather with everyone’s favorite meteorologist, Al Roker!  With this mesmerizing book that covers a wide range of topics, readers will learn about the conditions that generate unique weather occurrences like red sprites, thundersnow, and fogsicles.  Surprising facts, colorful spreads, and captivating pictures will hook children and adults alike as they uncover the mysteries of extreme weather—some they never even knew existed!

As someone who used to live outside of Dallas in ‘Tornado Alley’ and worked for FEMA, I think it’s important for families to be aware and prepare for extreme weather conditions in their area.  Al Roker is probably a name that needs no introduction and his attention to things like wild fires and hail storms are educational with a lot of pictures that makes the book interesting for young readers.  I love the glossary and the end of the book as well as a ‘Learn More’ page for budding meteorologists who want to know about agencies like USGS and NOAA.  Awesome.

About the Author:  Al Roker is known to more than thirty million TV viewers and has won thirteen Emmy Awards, ten for his work on NBC’s Today. He also hosts Wake Up with Al, a weekday morning program on the Weather Channel. A New York Times bestselling author, Roker lives in Manhattan with his wife, ABC News and 20/20 correspondent Deborah Roberts, and has two daughters and a son.
