Animal Cards to Guess and Learn!
Brie absolutely adored the World of Eric Carle: Who Am I? At first, she was more fascinated by the ladybug container, which opens up like a book and has floppy antennae that she loved playing with before we could get started reading. However, this is not exactly a book, it’s more like a fun card game where there are 15 gloriously decorated cards by the award-winning author and illustrator Eric Carle (from The Very Hungry Caterpillar, of course!) that shows a picture of an animal on each one. The child has to guess what type of animal is on the card (ex: fish) and the back of the card has a short paragraph describing each one. It’s so much fun! Brie is already well versed in her animals, but she delighted in being ‘right’ and having me read the back of the cards to her. We even played it the ‘harder’ way by me giving her clues first than showing her if she guessed the right animal on the card after the fact. She was also very good at that, too. She beamed with pride as we played and since there are only 15 cards, we have played it A LOT. The clues are simple and fun for a toddler and the cards feature the vibrant art of Carle. I love that the cards are printed on thick, sturdy board with rounded corners, so it’s perfect for small grabby hands to guess and learn their animals. What fun!
