Norbert is a pig with a dream.
It doesn’t matter if the other farm animals snicker behind his back, Norbert has always dreamed of swimming the English Channel. He’s been preparing and training and finally he’s ready for the big swim! The other pigs spend their time rolling in the mud, eating slop, and napping in the shade. Norbert, instead, spends his time training hard and practicing his swim kicks. He follows a healthy diet and exercises regularly. Norbert is finally ready to swim the English Channel. There’s only one problem. He isn’t exactly sure where the English Channel is so how will he be able to accomplish his dream?
What is the English Channel? The English Channel is the body of water that separates southern England from northern France, and joins the southern part of the North Sea to the rest of the Atlantic Ocean. It is about 350 miles long and varies in width from 150 miles at its widest, so it is quite an extraordinary feat to swim it. However, Norbert isn’t able to find this information and he slowly gets discouraged.
That’s when all the barnyard animals figure out a way to help him. Perhaps they can’t make the long journey to England, but they set up their own channel for Norbert to swim. This is a great book on friendship, finding and sticking to goals that excite you, and always remembering to not forget your dreams. After all. Norbert has lots of dreams, and swimming the English Channel is just the beginning. LOVE!
