Little Miss planted a kiss . . .
OK! This isn’t a new-NEW book, but it’s new-ish and a perfect children’s book for Valentine’s Day! I wrote about the Little Miss, Big Sis book back in June (which we LOVE) and Plant a Kiss is actually the first book collaboration by New York Times bestselling author Amy Krouse Rosenthal and award-winning illustrator Peter H. Reynolds. While I wrote about this 2011 book release in the review, I have never actually REVIEWED Plant a Kiss – until now!
Brooke and I are fans of Little Miss and this is her first picture book appearance. Super cute as ever, Little Miss decides to grow a kiss. A Kiss? Yes, a KISS! But, of course, like all great children’s books, it is just a cool way to sneak in a bigger lesson. Little Miss doesn’t just plant and grow a kiss (which are illustrated with pastel sparkles lighting up the pages), she decides to share the kisses that she harvests. It’s a fun way to talk about love and Valentine’s Day with your child and talk about the bigger picture that small act of love will bloom into something bigger. Little Miss and all of her sparkly kisses are a euphemism for life being a journey and the importance of kindness through sharing and giving. Adorable!
