Old MacDonald (Grandma’s Nursery Rhymes) (Board book)

From the artist of the best-selling Grandma Loves You picture book comes the classic nursery rhyme in board book form.

There is something about making animal sounds that all toddlers seem to enjoy.  Did you know the earliest version of Old MacDonald goes back to the year 1917 from the book called Tommy’s Tunes, a collection of World War I era songs by F. T. Nettleingham.  The song was actually entitled, “Ohio (Old Macdougal Had a Farm)” with very similar lyrics yet with a slight variation of the farmer’s name and refrain:

Old Macdougal had a farm in Ohio-i-o,

And on that farm he had some dogs in Ohio-i-o,

With a bow-wow here, and a bow-wow there,

Here a bow, there a wow, everywhere a bow-wow.

The Sleeping Bear Press Grandma’s Nursey Rhymes books takes children’s classic nursey rhymes and put them in an enjoyable board book form that is wonderful for small children.  Toddlers will enjoy following along as Grandma MacDonald and her barnyard critters look for chick-chicks. Each page includes animal sounds with an activity page.  Point to each animal and have fun making the appropriate sound.  Lots of fun for toddler Brie and Brooke, the older sis, loves helping her read, too.  Great book!
