A 2016 Austin Wall Calendar with 250+ Austin Events and Activities
I drove myself a little crazy keeping track of the many minute details on practically everyone in my life on my usual refrigerator calendar for the past five years. I thought it was my ‘mom duty’ or something, but sometime during this last year, I said ‘ENOUGH is ENOUGH!’, I’m going to concentrate solely on my family and enjoy my life in Austin by getting out and DOING MORE and not look at my notes on the calendar to see if it was someone’s birthday or anniversary somewhere in my life. I like being thoughtful, but if a date wasn’t seared into my brain, I figured it couldn’t be that important, right? If you follow my post, you may have noticed that my normally very introverted self was getting out and doing more and I sometimes write about it. If there is a local family event we can all attend, we pack up the kids and GO. It’s been refreshingly awesome, and I don’t nearly have as many ‘to do’ lists now. Whoooo hoooo!
BUT – don’t get me wrong, I didn’t go to the extreme of total chaos, although I rather like this more simple way of life. I just realized that instead of buying my normal “Drive Momma Crazy’ calendars filled with everything from other kid’s birthdays to friend’s wedding anniversaries, I should continue thinking of fun local events in Austin that my family and I could do together – away from all the self-imposed duties of a Type A personality which I tend to gravitate to without any checks and balances. I was so excited to learn about the Austin Events Calendar, which has been in production for (Gasp!) TEN years and thought this would be a great way to find cool things to do while still knowing what day and month it is in my house. Hey, we ALL have to have our standards of what we need to know!
