Encourage Kids to Build their Own Stories with StoryWalls by Build & Imagine (Holiday Recommendation)

Parents’ Choice Gold Award Winner!

Magnetic building sets that inspire storytelling.

My oldest daughter, Brooke, is filled with imagination.  She amazes me when she creates her own stories through this app called Disney Storytime Theater.  Have you ever checked that out?  She will create and record her own stories involving Disney characters and will do lots of voices and have them act out little skits on her Kindle Fire.  That’s just one aspect of her creative talents and I love being able to get her toys that make her brain tick.  While trying to find some awesome new products for the holiday season that foster building, problem solving, designing and experimenting (factors in STEAM skills), I found a really awesome line from Build & Imagine called StoryWalls.

StoryWalls are magnetic construction sets made for gender neutral play where kids can create, build, and decorate their own stories in 3-D!  It is like taking our Doug and Melissa Magnetic Dress Up set and combining it with our felt board to create the perfect backdrop for imaginative play.  There are many different sets to choose from and I knew that Brooke would enjoy the Pet Portrait Studio StoryWall since she is a huge animal lover.

Woof and meow! The Pet Portrait Studio is an illustrated art studio magnetic panel that has four wooden pets that children can dress up and arrange for the boy and girl dolls to capture on camera or with a paintbrush.  The story line to the Pet Portrait Studio is that children are preparing shelter pets for adoption day, but there are many different ways kids can create their own stories.  The building panels and accessories are magnetic and can be decorated to make different scenes for imaginative play.  Children can create endless combinations to customize scenes and make their own stories, so it is like children are building their own storybooks.  Kids develop STEAM skills through play with this kit that appeals to animal lovers, artists and budding entrepreneurs.

“When we launched at the beginning of the year, we knew that building would be empowering for girls,” said Build & Imagine founder and mom Laurie Peterson. “We hadn’t anticipated how powerful the storytelling would be. Unlike a traditional dollhouse in which the setting is fixed, with Build & Imagine StoryWalls play-sets children direct not only how their characters interact in the scene, but what the scene itself looks like. The imaginative play that results is immersive and inspired.”

I am extremely impressed with the Pet Portrait Studio set.  This is a toy that can appeal to both boys and girls and is a set that Brooke can play with her little sister and friends.  She loves to create different stories and dress up the animals with all the included accessories.  One great thing about StoryWalls is that each set is compatible with other Build & Imagine building and storytelling play-sets, so if your child enjoys one, you can always add more sets for them to create in the future.  If you are looking for creative gifts for your kids this holiday season, check out the Build & Imagine website for their collections of magnetic building sets that inspire storytelling.  Two paws up!

FairyTale Theatre is another amazing award-winning StoryWall set that is a mix and match set of magnetic storytelling that is all about fairy tales.  The StoryWall is set up to look like a stage play and kids can countdown to show time for their friends and family.  Fairytale Theatre has more than 50 costumes and props to spark imaginative play for your child.  Brooke loves putting the characters in different costumes and acting out different scenes.  Even better – the theatre is compatible with other Build & Imagine building and storytelling play-sets, so she has been playing a mashed up of Fairytale Theatre and Pet Portrait Studio together!  If you are looking for creative gifts for your kids this holiday season, check out the Build & Imagine website for their collections of magnetic building sets that inspire storytelling.
