Get On Board! CD by Alex & The Kaleidoscope

“Unapologetically positive and upbeat … Mitnick’s melodic tenor continues to remind this reviewer of the joys of the Lovin’ Spoonful, with shades of Paul Simon and Richard Shindell thrown in for good measure.” — 2014 Parents’ Choice® Silver Honor Award review of Alex Mitnick’s Love Songs For My Baby.

Hot on the heels of winning a 2014 New York Emmy® Award for Best Children’s Programming, Alex & The Kaleidoscope, with Alex Mitnick at the helm, has a splendid itinerary of colorful musical adventures in store for kids with the September 25 release of their new album, Get On Board!  For those who have never seen Alex’s show, you are in for a real treat as full episodes of the award-winning Alex & The Kaleidoscope TV show can be seen on YouTube, Kidoodle.TV, AmebaTV, Toon Goggles, and Battery Pop.

Amazingly, it has been three years on this very blog since I reviewed the last Alex & The Kaleidoscope’s album entitled I’m So Glad that had an awesome mixture of danceable tunes of Rock, Folk. Pop and Reggae. I was really jazzed (pun intended!) that a Princeton Montessori School music program director was making children’s albums that I could play for my child (now children). I believe in the Montessori Method and the way to empower children is through learning and includes elements of art and music.  Or, in my kiddos cases, LOTS of art and music!

Jeff Bogle of Out With The Kids calls Alex’s music “groove-oriented, world music-infused, rich & textured rock-n-roll.”

Kathy O’Connell, host of WXPN’s Peabody Award-winning radio show, Kids Corner, praised Alex & The Kaleidoscope for “musical depth combined with witty lyrics that talk directly to kids.”

Alex and band have been honored with 18 national awards over the last eleven years and Get On Board! is a wonderful addition to his credits where the music invites children to observe and celebrate the world around them.  It has a world music appeal and a wide range of fun topics for kids including songs about interesting insects or what items are recyclable.  There is a bit of funk, a bit of rock and even a bit of gospel!   It’s a great way to infuse different music genres into your household and, believe me, the kids soak it up.  There will be a lot of movement with this music and that’s just the way we like it.
