Holy Guacamole! It’s the kindie music titans of Brooklyn! New Album Drops 9/25/15!
If there is one thing our family eats a lot of here in Austin, Texas, it is chips, salsa, and Holy Guacamole! Good thing that the award-winning kindie musicians of Rolie Polie Guacamole are dishing up a new album so we can have some ear spice with our favorite snacks! The group’s fifth album, Chips and Salsa, is being released for families everywhere on September 25.
Rolie Polie Guacamole has been in the kindie world since 2008 when they released their first self-titled album and have received such prestigious awards Parents’ Choice® and NAPPA Awards. In just a few years they have received top picks from Boston.com, Time Out NY Kids, and Time Out Chicago. This band is also a generational family affair as one of the founding band member’s Frank Gallo’s dad is none other than veteran kids’ musician Lou Gallo. Nice!
Rolie Polie Guacamole is a fun parent-friendly band that delivers a smart musical style with a mix of original tunes and classic covers with vibrant harmonies and deft instrumental layers. There is fun rhythm, sizzling electric and lots of great lyrics humming with relevance and humor. Musical parents will will note influences ranging from Primus, Ween, and Pink Floyd to The Beatles and Boards of Canada. Oh my! What fun. This album has a wide range for all your musical tastes from a rocking song called “The Mantis” to a Latin-flavored “Rolie Polie Guacamole” to a wonderful cover of Woody Guthrie’s classic “This Land is Your Land”.
The Guacamole team had some help of some very famous friends for this album. It is produced by the acknowledged wizard of the kindie mixing board, Dean Jones and features an impressive cast of guest artists. The album includes spots by The Chapin Sisters (Abigail and Lily Chapin, daughters of Tom Chapin), Jen Chapin (daughter of Harry Chapin), Mike Dillon (Primus & the Chocolate Factory, Les Claypool, Ani DiFranco), Amelia Robinson (Mil’s Trills), as well as singer/songwriter Katie Mullins! Wow. Get ready for a high energy album that dabbles in various musical forms of folk, funk, rock, Latin and country. Lyrics include wonderful family friendly lessons in eating healthy, staying active, fun travel, and a sprinkling of animal tunes thrown in for good measure.
Enthuses Frank Gallo, “Chips and Salsa is the culmination of nearly a decade that Rolie Polie Guacamole has spent developing the very best family program possible. We consider this album to be our crowning achievement. It’s a fun, rocking good time for all, and we hope it really blurs the line between great kids’ music and great music, period.”
