Mister G Los Animales New Album from Latin Grammy Nominee
The latest from 2014 Latin Grammy nominee, Mister G. An all-original, indie, bilingual album featuring Latin superstars from around the world.
Musicians are our ‘peeps’. Every since my first days of getting my Fender Mexican Strat at the beginning of high school (which I was able to purchase -cheaply- from a friend who never learned to play), I babied that beast as if it were a 70s American standard. I frequented our only tiny city’s music store to solder wires, purchase Metal Master pedals, get super slinky strings and teach the ol’ musicians at the shop that I was not just some chick who fiddled around with instruments, I was a dedicated musician that deserved their best service. It took time, but a relationship was forged and, since my guitar seemed to break down before almost every single show, my band mates and I learned to trust Kassel Music and they did the same to me.
While I started off loving all 70s rock and folk, music has never been an exclusive club and I’m happy to say I get updates from “Mrs. G” on new upcoming family music from the acclaimed musician, Mister G. I appreciate all types of music that make me ‘tick’ and my eyes have been opened to the world of kid-friendly music since becoming a parent. I won’t go so far as to say I don’t do my fair share of snobbery when I pick music but my kids have influenced me more than I realize and the more influences I can pick up in songs, the better. My kids are being raised to speak languages that I only began to incorporate in my life in my pre-teen years and music is a beautiful way to fuse cultures seamlessly. We don’t just listen to music, we live it, breathe it and be-friend musicians who speak to us. One such musician, Mister G, is continuously putting out kid-friendly, bilingual rock music with Latin influences from fusing salsa, jazz, Tejano, bolero, folk and rock and his talents are lent a hand by many multi-Grammy winners that accompany him on his tunes. It is a match made in heaven and his latest album, Los Animales, is no different.
Recorded in studios reaching from New York, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Miami, San Francisco, Amsterdam, San Antonio, and Boston, Los Animales is a multicultural, international project with some of the biggest names in Latin Jazz. Mister G’s ever-present acoustic guitar is driving by the chorus of bilingual children singing songs like “Vamonos” (Let’s Go), “¿Cuál es tu animal favorito?” (What’s your favorite animal?) and “La Rana” (The Frog). We love the use of Latin percussion instruments such as the timbale, guira, bongos, congas that give this album an upbeat and danceable feel. Even the art work is inspiring! Acclaimed Mexican artist Marcos Almada Rivero created the folkloric original art for the album. Love.
