Ruby’s Studio: The Siblings Show
Now available for Pre-Order! “Ruby’s Studio: The Siblings Show” will be released on National Siblings Day — Friday, April 10th, 2015!
Sibling relationships are often the deepest, strongest relationships in life – but they can also be the most challenging, for sibs and parents alike!
After Bob’s and my initial freak out reaction that we were going to have another child, we both immediately thought about our oldest daughter, Brooke. She was used to having all of our attention and we were probably always at her beck and call because we, as parents, only had her to entertain, feed, clothe…keep alive! Ha. You get it! So, we went into SIBLING OVERLOAD. Big sister books, dolls, outfits, you name it – Brooke had it – all in an effort for her to feel special about being a sister and not just being forced to give up some alone mommy and daddy time.
And you know what? It worked! I mean, she LOVED and LOVES her baby sister, Brie. BUT – that doesn’t mean they don’t get annoyed at each other and have their moments of jealousy. Seriously! Have you ever seen a toddler be jealous of a preschooler? I was not expecting that! However, they both have such a huge bond and loving connection with one another, I don’t think I’ve seen them go more than five minutes at being upset with each other. Brie adores Brooke and wants to do everything like her; and in turn, Brooke LOVES that Brie follows her most of the time and thinks that she knows everything Brie wants and likes to tell her what to do. Mommy and daddy play goalie when possible but they both have a unique way of resolving conflicts without too much interaction – oh, except Brie’s hair-pulling phase. Le sigh. And we still make a big deal out of them being siblings. They have a built in best friend just by being born and they will forever be connected to us and each other – and that’s pretty cool.
