Lizzie loves school almost more than anything.
I must confess, I’m a little freaked out that my oldest will be in kindergarten in just a few months! She currently attends pre-school, but there is something different about her going to school with big kids in a big building that I’m not so sure I am ready for it yet. However, Brooke IS READY. She loves school. She loves to learn. She loves everything about it. She looks FORWARD to Mondays! Yeah, I don’t get it either, but it is actually nice.
However, there is one thing she hasn’t learned about yet and that is SUMMER BREAK – until now. While that was most certainly my favorite time of the year as a child, I am beginning to wonder if NO SCHOOL for several weeks will actually be something she may not look forward to each year. Well, in the new Sleeping Bear Press book, Lizzie and the Last Day of School, Lizzie reminds me of Brooke. She is not looking forward to the last day of school. In fact, the whole book is about Lizzie’s love of school and how much she enjoys learning. In a funny and cute twist after Lizzie returns to school on the last day to give her teacher a hug, she discovers Miss. G is also bummed about the school year ending. However, she has a surprise for Lizzie! She is teaching summer school and Lizzie gets to go! This is a great read for kids who love school or will be starting kindergarten, like mine, after this summer. It was a big hit!
