Salonpas Pain Relief Patch (Momma Health)
Powerful Relief When and Where You Need It!
I have dealt with chronic back pain for a year. I went a long time doing nothing. Why? I had an epidural with Brie a year ago and thought, hey, that hurt! Like, A LOT! OUCHIE! But, they are supposed to hurt, right?
Months passed, the pain didn’t get better. I blamed some of it on carrying the kiddos, lugging toys and equipment around until —– during a particularly stressful time I started to not be able to walk. My center core of my body was in so much pain. I grabbed my lower back in pain and felt two big golf-ball sizes of something on each side of my lower back. WHAT WAS THAT?
So, I scheduled an appointment. After calling the hospital and my OBGYN. I went to my PCP and there I was referred to a specialist, then another, then to PT. The endless pain of PT, Flexeril and Aleve were so painful I was in tears at times just moving. I didn’t want to do pain pills, I wanted to try something – anything, and I was referred to a topical NSAID that cost over 100 bucks with insurance and before I got an RX discount card. OUCH. It helped. A lot! But, there was no way I could keep up those payments until I learned about Salonpas Pain Relief Patch.
Salonpas Pain Relief Patch is the first and only FDA-approved OTC Pain relief patch for temporary relief of mild to moderate aches and pains.
What?!?! FDA-approved AND OTC? And cheaper PER PATCH? OK, so, I asked my NP what she thought the difference was between the two…and she said, try and see if it relieves the pain just as well. SO – I DID!
My Take:
First, I’d like to state I’m not a doctor or have any sort of medical training, but I can tell you about my chronic back pain and how topical patches have been my saving grace from taking pain pills (which I try to avoid.) OTC Salonpas patches work great for me. They are an NSAID (like Flexeril) but instead include methyl salicylate and not the Voltaren drug. Think ICY HOT – that kind of nice burn after PT. It is also flesh colored and not a white patch like my Rx version (and is also a slightly smaller patch.) Smaller doses of the drug enter the body by using it as a topical treatment for things like bulges and inflammation. While Flector patches also work great, the cost of it is quite high since it isn’t covered by insurance yet, so it is nice to know there is an alternative if I do not have an RX discount for the drug, which they offer from time to time.
Warning: Some people are allergic to NSAIDs (like my husband) so verify if you are allergic before trying!
Note from Momma’s Bacon: I thought it was important for me as a mom who had an epidural and now have chronic back pain to mention relief does exist. Go to your primary care doctor if your back is still out of whack and find out what they can do for you. Don’t stay in pain!
