Infant Baby Banana Training Toothbrush (3 months+)
Commitment to Improved Health for Toddlers and Infants through Oral Hygiene and Product Safety
Q: When should I start my baby on an infant toothbrush?
A: We (Baby Banana Training Toothbrush) recommend that parents use gum wipes as early as they come home from the hospital, and when their child starts grabbing (usually around 3 months) they should start using the Baby Banana Training Toothbrush.
Brie is in the Baby Banana Training Toothbrush phase (we had been using gum wipes until now), but check these guidelines below to see where your child fits:
General Guidelines for Baby Banana Training Toothbrush Products:
If your child is under 12 months: They should be using the infant style toothbrush with a-“peel”-ing handles. This style of toothbrush does not come in a combo pack.
If your child is over 12 months: They should be using the toddler version of the Baby Banana Training Toothbrush, which does come in a combo pack with the Spry tooth gel.
Note: Baby Banana Training Toothbrush’s age recommendations are a guideline, but was told that the way your child will be using the toothbrush should really dictate which style you select. Check this out and see which one fits your child:
If your child is in more of a teething phase, they should be using the infant style.
If they are working on brushing quite a few teeth (especially back molars coming in), they should use the toddler style.
Now, back to the Baby Banana Training Toothbrush review (yes, this is a review, too!):
The toothbrush is made of soft silicone so it has a great texture and was easy for Brie to grip. Brie is six months right now and although it is possible that children could have the motor skills to use this toothbrush as early as 3-4 months, Brie’s age is probably the average age a baby would have a good grasp to hold the toothbrush. The banana shape is super cute, but also made it easy for Brie to hold. Brie is more in the gumming phase (we haven’t seen a tooth yet) but the website said that you can put this toothbrush in the freezer to help with teething. I will have to remember that one. It’s been fun for us and it is quite a team effort to toothbrush Brie’s gums. She holds the banana toothbrush and I move her arm around. Sure, it is all fun and games now, but it is also putting her on a great path to dental health. So, yes, two thumbs up!
