I had this really awesome t-shirt of Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia when I was a kid and got a kick out of discussing the C.S. Lewis books when people would ask when I wore it. I was a shy kid, but I loved to talk about books and could relate to others through the stories. It was really fun to have that tee. As an admitted book freak, I had that ‘I want to buy all these t-shirts’ feeling when I first checked out the Out of Print Clothing line. As soon as I saw the kid’s tee from the 1900 children’s classic The Wizard of Oz, I knew, I just knew I had to get it for Brooke! I absolutely adore the book and it also has a special connection to family for me. See, my family did not have cable when I was a kid, but we did have PBS and each year it would show the 1939 movie based on the book The Wizard of Oz on Halloween. I’m pretty sure we watched it every year for the first eight years of my life. I’m not sure if it is the ‘there is no place like home’ mantra or the love of Dorothy and her family, but it is just the most fantastic movie to watch with kids and, I’m sure, is what made me read and fall in love with this classic book. It is fun to be able to express yourself through your love of reading and support fantastic children’s literature.
