You have to love when a social studies teacher finds a calling in the children’s literature world that includes her love of culture with learning. Carole P. Roman is doing just that in her new series of books that focuses on teaching children different cultures from around the world. Her books are titled If You Were Me and Lived in….(fill in the blank) with the first book focusing on Mexico. Each page focuses on learning a specific culture including language, dress, food and all things that children would be introduced to if they were actually traveling and living in another country. The illustrations are fantastic and very informative. Her book on France is currently available and soon to be followed by Kenya and Turkey!
