Christmas and Christmas songs were always synonymous with wintertime in my household. “Frosty the Snowman” (originally titled “Frosty the Snow Man”) was one of the first holiday songs that I probably learned. They have whole Christmas cartoon specials just based on this song. But how did this song come to happen? Songwriters Walter “Jack” Rollins (who also wrote “Here Comes Peter Cottontail”) and Steve Nelson penned this song and it was Gene Autry’s first recording of “Frosty” that came in 1950 that breathed life into the snowman. It was so successful that Little Golden Books created the first Frosty book that year and countless covers, animated series and books have since followed. So, how can you top yet another Frosty book?
