A Walk in the Woods: Into the Field Guide [Hardcover] (Age 5+)
A Field Guide Designed to get Kids Out and Exploring the Woods!
Kids love to explore and I was lucky enough to grow up in an area where woods and forests were in abundance. My earliest memories are of exploring caves and walking unchartered trails throughout our ‘backyard’, the woods in which seemed to have no bounds. Not every child is fortunate enough to grow up near a National Forest, but even in the most urban environments in North America our children can discover nature. This near release hardcover book by the very interesting publishing company called Downtown Book Works is not just any book; it is a guide and a treasure box of discoveries for children.
A Walk in the Woods: Into the Field Guide focuses on the most common natural life within North America so that a simple nature walk will turn into a goldmine of discovery. The guide has information on all things easily found in most woods within the U.S. such as animals, insects, flora and rocks that are unmistakable for even very small children. The guide includes tracking tips, identification charts and even interesting facts like edible plants. This guide does not stop there, though; it also includes tools for collecting, observing and preserving discoveries in a magnetic closure box with special little compartments. This is one book that offers a wonderful way for kids to learn, explore and interact with nature in such a positive way that goes above and beyond just a hardcover book. Kudos to Downtown Book Works for bringing kids to nature in such a special and unique way and parents should get just as much enjoyment helping their children learn about the great outdoors.

Never been to the woods and forests as a kid or adult, but I love how the book is educational and informative
I love kits like this. I used to love going for walks as a kid and trying to identify bugs and leaves. What a great way to get kids interested in nature!
Great learning tool that kids would actually have fun with. I love this kind of stuff– keeps kids engaged 🙂
