Gourmet Beeswax Lip Balms and Solid Lotion Bars

I admit that my husband and I can be a little overprotective of our daughters.  I will say some of our ways we overprotect is reality-based – having a preemie and a miscarriage and NICU things have definitely made us more cautious parents.  Some, though, may be just our want to protect our kids and have no real reason for us giving pause and it can be a struggle to want to empower our kids versus protect.  One thing that I can really laugh about now was our resistance (ok, I’m calling my husband out on this – his resistance) to giving our older daughter popcorn or peanuts.  Yes, this is based on reality and recommendation by her pediatrician, but even past the age of when it is supposed to be ‘okay’ for a child to eat, he was hesitant.  Much to his surprise, one day when he came home, Brooke was chomping on a peanut I had given her.  Oops!  Of course, she was totally fine and it was a way to get the ball rolling that she was growing up and my husband was actually relieved.  Not surprising, the popcorn thing was also introduced by me and (yes, we still monitor) since then she has become a popcorn freak.  She loves the smell, taste and texture and I thought a beeswax popcorn favored lip balm was a perfect stocking stuffer for her this year.

I really love the Popcorn flavored beeswax lip balm through the Etsy Shop LipsNLotions.  The shop is the brainchild of Monica Knight of Lorrain, Ohio (aka The Beeswax Lady) and she has a lot of great balms and beeswax lotions in her shop.  Her items are all handmade in her kitchen with her balms mostly made up of Shea butter, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, and jojoba.  I was specifically looking for that popcorn scent that wasn’t chemical and I think Monica nailed it.  I am so excited for my daughter to open this on Christmas and let’s hope (especially for Bob) she doesn’t try to eat it!  Yum!
