Jennifer (Jen) Jacobellis is a mom like me with one caveat, she can sew! Not only just sew, but create amazingly beautiful and chic products for her child and I love her play mats. I realized the importance of play mats after doing our very first outings with Brooke to places like Farmers Markets, Mommy and Me classes and just hanging out in other friend’s living rooms. Jen had the same notion, but with her sewing skills was able to create a padded play mat at the envy of other moms. The desire for others to purchase her products started quickly and soon did her Etsy store. I’m happy to say Jen is expanding quickly, creating an Amazon storefront and her own website for purchasing her products. She is also diving into bibs and burp cloths for those who like to match all their fabrics together!
My favorite padded play mat design of Jen’s is the gender-neutral padded play mat in black with white circles with a gray minky backing. The 100% cotton designer print material is for the floor and the minky side is for the baby to lay on in comfort. If you have never felt or owned minky fabric, you will be delighted because they are so soft and plush for babies. I want to wrap myself in it! The play mats are completely machine washable and dryer friendly (no worries about shrinkage since Jen pre-washes and dries before making). The current popular play mat measures at 14”x8”x5 although Jen is coming out with a larger design (58”x58” – WOW) mat. This would be perfect for twins or baby play dates!
