Gift Set: Milk It Kit™ & 40 Milk Labels‏ *Nursing Mothers*

Peace of Mind for Working Breastfeeding Moms!

This is not a debate (and I will not be brought into one) but an honest look at my breastfeeding experience where my best intentions did not play into my reality.  Work-wise, I knew I had to go back to work at eight weeks post-partum, and as the head of all things Administrative in my office at the time; I created a nursing station room through a contract with a locked door for nursing mothers.  I had a lactation consultant available through our daughter’s pediatrician and my perfect birth plan was signed sealed and delivered to my OBGYN who was on board with all my natural and crunchy instincts.  What happened was my daughter was born early, I could not breastfeed for a time for her health reasons, learned how to use a double breast pump and bag and freeze milk and thought things were peachy and we heated up breast milk in a colic-resistant most natural bottle and nipple we could find on the market.  However, I also took a job six weeks into my maternity leave where no nursing station existed (d’oh!  I wish I knew!) and while the job was actually a promotion in the long run (so my husband could stay at home with our preemie), the then-lateral move proved to be difficult when in the first six months on the job I was on scheduled and relieved in two daily 15-minute breaks that were rarely timely for my body and spent my lunch half-hours in an unlocked conference room nine floors down and weekends pumping around the clock to keep up supply.  Pills, herbs, teas and all things lactation became my nightmare but one I was willing to impose on my frustrated body.  I would never judge another mother on her best intentions, but I allowed myself to feel judged when my body started to lose supply.  I still remember the first time I tried supplementing months into this whirlwind work cycle of pumping and I felt like a Milk League mom was going to come out of the woodwork and beat me with my breast pump.  That is probably not fair to most nursing moms, but that was what I had in my head and I felt lots of guilt.  I loved pumping as a working mom and loved having a supply in my freezer that I happily maintained for as long as possible but I did not pump for as long as I wanted for reasons just mentioned and I finally came to terms with that when my daughter turned a year old and I felt the pressure was off.  With all that said, I am going into this again with the best of intentions but I am not going to beat myself up with unrealistic expectations for my body in my work life.  Thankfully, my work schedule is not as rigid, but there are still road blocks and I want moms to  know if you have felt my frustration that I understand and support you in whatever decision you make.  Pumping is hard but rewarding and whether medical or schedule, if things don’t work out the way you want, your baby will be fine and you are doing a good job.  That is all I wanted and needed to hear (not from her Pedi since she was quite aware and understood) from other moms.  That said, I did become a pumping expert, loved that I could do it when I was allowed and waterproof date labels were so key for me.  I found this awesome Milk It Kit that is fantastic and wanted to let other working mothers know about it!

The Milk It Kit is truly an awesome product for a mom going back to work who plans on pumping.  The adorable and eye-appealing illustrations include a 2-sided Door Hanger for my unlocked conference room, two Folded Desk Signs to let others know you will be right back to your desk after pumping, one Pump Bag Tag, 32 Milk Labels and three Milk It Stickers.  The signs couldn’t be more adorable; for example, the door hanger has one side that says, ‘WAIT Just a minute please Nursing Mom at Work’ while the other says, ‘WAIT Just a minute please Room in Use’.  The luggage bag tags are awesome for your pumping bag (or backpack in my case).  I am in love with the waterproof milk label designs which are a far cry from the all-white labels I used last time that, while effective, weren’t cute!  Another bonus, the Milk It Kit and Labels are all made with FSC-certified 100% recycled paperboard, crafted with veggie-based inks and adhesives.  Who knew pumping could feel so natural?  Keep up the good work moms on whatever path you choose and as a working mom, pumping has been a way for me to stick with breastfeeding as long as possible and something I will not regret.  It’s nice to have fun and supportive products for those of us who want and need it!

Check it out!  40 Milk Labels will only get you so far (approximately one month), and Milk It has additional label packs for sale perfect for those, like me, who used pumping as my ultimate breastfeeding tool.  Here is the link to the Amazon page which has free shipping where you can buy up to 120 labels at one time!
