Mini Loom Weaving Kit (Age 7+)

My husband and I are what you call the ‘jacks of all trades’. We get some notion to start a new project or hobby (he had a recent bout with blacksmithing and I am on a quest to learn to be a Montessori teacher) and we have a lot of knowledge sprinkled in many areas. I suppose if you are a reader of my blog, you get to see a lot of different products we try and love and while crafting is never my strong suit, I am always willing to give a new hobby a go. I recently got an idea that I wanted to try weaving. Unlike my husband who likes to get all the supplies first (the best on the market, mind you), I always like to try things out on a smaller scale and work my way up. Some things pan out, like playing guitar, and some things just don’t (sorry I will never be a magician). I found the perfect mini loom from a cool site called Bountiful Spin Weave that includes everything you need to try your hand at weaving at an awesome price. While my older daughter is still a little too young to get into it, she was enthralled at watching her silly momma muddle her way through her very first project. Who knows, she may even be a master weaver some day!

The Mini Loom Weaving Kit is the perfect way to begin your weaving career. It is made of durable plastic and simple to thread. The instructions were so simple that even I could figure out the set-up on the very first try. While I was just happen to make something that resembled a semi-hot pad in a five colors, you can get quite good at getting the yarn tighter together and try patterns I have yet to master. For those that find this might be a great hobby for them, I’d recommend upgrading to any of the numerous looms on the site and several instructional books on projects to make (a fun belt would be awesome). In the interim, I will continue to work at my hot pads and buy new yarn so I can at least teach Brooke I can make something homemade!
