Woombie Air Swaddle

Woombie Air Swaddler (5-13 lbs)

Swaddle. Snuggle. Sleep.

We have been HUGE Woombie swaddler fans since we brought our older daughter home from the NICU and needed a preemie sized swaddler.  My husband, whose older brother died of Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), was adamant we would not swaddle with blankets that could come loose in her crib (see other SIDS prevention tips below) and she had grown accustomed to being swaddled in the NICU.  The snug fit of the Woombie was just what Brooke wanted and though we began calling her ‘Bug’ from her baby swaddle, it worked wonders.  It is still our favorite swaddler and babies naturally love that snug feel during that ‘fourth trimester’.  The awesome thing about Woombie and their amazing creator is that she is always inventing new woombie products.  One of the recommended reductions of SIDS is through using breathable fabrics on babies and this new air swaddler has the latest in air ventilation techncology.  It is actually perfect for all seasons but especially important in those hot summer months.

The Woombie Air Swaddle has ventilation throughout the swaddle and works as a swaddle for all seasons.  You can dress or undress the baby as needed depending on the weather, just be mindful of overheating.  Like all Woombie Swaddles, it is easy to use (just zip up baby) and is much safer than swadding a baby in a blanket.  There are a lot of really adorable boy, girl or unisex designs, but remember some are seasonal so buy what you like while you can!  Give yourself peace of mind as your baby sleeps so YOU can sleep and the Woombie swaddle did that for me.

Check it out!  You can also purchase the Woombie Air Swaddler in 14-19 pounds!

Reducing the Risk of SIDS:  As you can imagine, my husband and I became informed on the prevention of SIDS before Brooke’s birth.  My husband felt very strongly that I needed to add the importance of having breathable fabric (for example, the Woombie is 95% cotton fabric) for an infant to this post as well as adding the link to the American SIDS Institute prevention page.  Babies are at risk for SIDS their first year of life, but it seems especially between the ages of 2-4 months.  We took every precaution to prevent it based on Brooke’s pediatrician’s recommendation; although doctors do say there is no guaranteed way to prevent it since they are still not 100% sure what causes it.  However, it is said that since pediatricians started recommending that babies sleep on their backs that the number of cases of SIDS in the U.S. has dropped by 40%.

  1. I have heard SO MANY great reviews about woombie. My daughter wasn’t into swaddling so I never got her one, but I’m keeping them in mind when #2 comes in March.

  2. I love my woombie. Now my daugther is 7 months and she is to much of a chunk for the one we have but I am saving it for baby number 3! It is the most amazing swaddler ever!
