Michael Jackson was one of my first music obsessions. It wasn’t Off the Wall or even Thriller that made me love him as a child (that came a little later). It was the Jackson Five particularly the album Goin’ Back to Indiana that caught my attention first. The song ‘I Want You Back’ was such a huge deal in my mind and I loved the groove, music and lyrics even as a little child. I felt a connection to Michael because on the album cover, he was around my age. I imagined we could be friends and sing songs together. Ha! I didn’t really know he was almost two decades older than me living some fantasy life in Beverly Hills, but that didn’t matter anyway. My close friends know this obsession and laugh about it. I even like a few songs on Bad, so that shows you my commitment. That is why when I saw that Rockabye Baby was coming out with Michael Jackson songs, I had to get it.

Rockabye Baby is basically lullabies directed towards parents yet perfect for kids. I wish I had thought of this brilliant idea first! What Rockabye Baby has essentially done is take our generation’s music and turned it into soothing mellotrons, vibraphones and bells and made them into instrumental children’s songs. Even through all the music changes, the songs are still there at their core and are perfect for your child to sleep to and for the parents to not go crazy hearing ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’ for the 100^th time. It is the perfect compromise for parents of babies who loves music.
