Singing Our Way Through: Songs for the World’s Bravest Kids CD (Kids with Cancer)
CD for Kids with (and without) Cancer – Out July 9th! Special Posting!
I wanted to review this CD as soon as I heard about it because it features some of my favorite kid’s artists as well as distributions going to children’s cancer groups nationwide. This isn’t just about the musicians making a contribution; you as a consumer are making a direct contribution to the children’s group since this is a crowd-funded album. This concept album started after the devastating diagnosis of Boston musician Alastair Moock’s daughter (who is also a twin) of leukemia. As a pseudo-musician and songwriter, he did what I would probably have done after the initial sadness and shock wore off, he sat down and started writing songs. Luckily for Alastair, he is not only a very talented musician, he has very talented musician friends! In fact, this album is chalk full of amazing artists to support the cause. This includes Chris Smither, Rani Arbo, Mark Erelli and 2013 Grammy nominees Aoife O’Donovan, Elizabeth Mitchell and The Okee Dokee Brothers! Wow! Not only that, the CD features kid choirs and has an overall very positive family feel that is wonderful for families going through such a difficult time while still being enjoyed by any family as just a great kid’s album.

Such a great idea, and baby boy would love this thank you for a great review
What a beautiful thing – cheering kids up and helping them out!
What a great project! I love that they support kids with cancer – my cousin had brain cancer and projects like these are so necessary!
Great project! But correction: Alastair is not a pseudo-musician/songwriter. He’s been a professional singer songwriter for years. I used to catch him on the Boston folk scene years ago, and now that I have kids we go to some of his kids’ music concerts. They’re great!!
I totally agree S. Walker! I was referring to myself as the pseudo-musician/songwriter and not Alastair. He is obviously extremely talented and professional musician. 🙂
Oh! OK. That makes more sense. 🙂
