Stickin’ Together.  A Fun Sticker Organizer for a Child’s Busy World.

It’s that time of year when people start thinking about getting new calendars (holy cow, is it almost 2013?!?!) and I love organization.  If I feel prepared and my time is managed efficiently than I perform better and have less anxiety.  Some people can wing their days without a care in the world.  I am not one of those people, which may *cough cough* be an understatement, and since becoming a mom, I now help to manage the lives of my husband and my daughter.  I have found many types of calendars that have been worthwhile over the years (I really love my More Time Moms refrigerator calendar), and I love the Kidz Calendar because the child gets involved with their own planning and learning how to organize their time as a member of the family which is important in our family unit.

The KidzCalendar is a twelve month calendar with all the days of the week that you can begin using any time of the year since you and your child customize the entire thing.  This 2010 Product Of The Year Award (Educational Department) from Creative Child Magazine is interactive and you get to write in the days and months together.  There are stickers included for practically anything you could celebrate and it includes stickers for all twelve months (five blank weeks are displayed for each month) and days of the year, stickers for all holidays, school events, personal events and even chores so that the whole family gets involved with the calendar as a unit.  I have loved this sticker concept with my own calendar and realized how great and easy it was to be able to show Brooke things like who was having a birthday the next month and how many cards we needed to buy or make.  The amount of stickers that are included are impressive and just the fact they have stickers for our cat’s birthdays are awesome.  This is a great way for a child to have a little control in the structure of their day and give them a way to see upcoming events and tasks we take together as a family.  While I have to make a distinction between my own calendar and Brooke’s calendar, I actually think it’s nice for her to have her own family calendar to track things.  I am actually looking forward to talking with her this year about any work trips I need to take and having her know what day I will return.  It does take a little work to get stickers off the calendar which some parents might not want to do but one of the biggest reasons I really love it is that it is reusable!  Fantastic!
