Product Review: Tis the Season Candy Cottage (Family Fun!)
Memories Made Sweet. The Ready-to-Decorate, NO Baking Necessary, Family-Fun Gingerbread House!
When we moved to a ‘big’ city (of *ahem* 14, 000 people) when I was nine years old it was like I stepped into New York City in my little mind. It was quite a shock. The quaint little town had store after store and restaurant after restaurant and they went all out to make the small downtown area of this historic (yet notably in an area of poverty) city surveyed by George Washington to be as picturesque as possible. That first Christmas we lived there the entire downtown area (which still has brick roads) had red bows tied to each street lamp and holiday decorations and banners lining the street. My biggest shock was the historic downtown hotel named after Lafayette that set up an entire gingerbread house village complete with a running train set. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it looked, like right out of the holiday movies, and wanted to go back to see it a few times that year. I was a little sad when they took it down for the holidays but I was happy to find out it was a tradition so it would be back again the next year. I thought how fun would it be to make our own gingerbread house as a family for display each season.
Tis the Season Candy Cottage is a unique ready-to-make gingerbread house for the holiday season where you don’t use actual gingerbread. Instead the Candy Cottages are made out of reusable material you snap together and can use again and again as a sound house structure! That means no baking is required, the product is reusable (after you wash it off, of course) and no rotting of gingerbread on top of cutting down on the time it takes to make these fun holiday creations. The Candy Cottage is almost ready to decorate from the start. This sturdy and nice big sized product (14″ wide and almost 10″ tall) product easily snaps together within minutes and the real fun part of the Candy Cottage, the decoration, starts almost immediately. Each kit comes with the Candy Cottage house and a Decorating Idea Booklet. The only thing you need to add is your own icing and favorite candies and the Candy Cottage has some great tips and designs to get your creative juices following, so check them out there! Highly recommended! Our Candy Cottage is the picture on the right (of course!) and Bob found some great edible materials at Central Market. A little tip – Make more frosting than you think you will need! You will need it. Just trust me!
Check this out! A representative told me that the Candy Cottage has been used in a variety of educational environments over the past few years. The favorite was from a third grade teacher who introduced some advanced math skill to her class through a combination of teaching and decorating a classroom Candy Cottage. The students used their skills to calculate the amounts of each candy they needed and used while creating their Candy Cottage. Adorable!
