The company We Sign has a very important goal to get adults and children interacting in a fun way that includes music and the movement as well as learning the visual language of American Sign Language (ASL). This DVD is perfect for teachers, early childhood professionals and parents who want to learn how to sign traditional Christmas songs and teach these signs to their children. An added bonus is that you can sign with the songs on the DVD (A capella!). As I started learning sign language through the Red Cross at a young age, I have been introducing it to Brooke since she was a baby. She is so vocal for her age that signing became secondary to speaking in sentences, but I still like to sign to her and hope she picks up on more signs as we go. I thought this DVD was the perfect way to learn Christmas songs in ASL together.
We Sign Santa’s Favorite Christmas Songs DVD teaches and demonstrates ASL signs in each of the Christmas Songs included on the DVD. It is done through ‘contact signing’ meaning it is done in a spoken word order and goes along with the music perfectly. It works best if parents and kids continue to do the DVD together and helps your child learn to sign and sign the Christmas songs. One of the We Sign reps told me it is very easy to modify the signs for younger children by just limiting the signs used to the key words and then adding more each time to continue proficiency. Highly Recommended!
