Product Review: Curious George Matching Game (Age 3+)
Games that encourage imagination, laughter, and active fun
We spend a lot of time at the book store chain Half-Price Books which seems to have its share of unused children’s books from the UK that they ship to the US for a discount price. Just our luck, we were able to purchase almost the entire Curious George collection in paperback at bargain bin discounts! Curious George (or just “George” as Brooke calls him, refusing to believe his first name is ‘Curious’) is a favorite set with a particular fondness for Curious George and the Firefighters. She loves the loud fire truck noises we make as we read and she thinks it is funny how George plays with all the kids while the firefighters put out the fire. As you know, I love educational games based on children’s literature and a Curious George matching game was perfect for our daughter.
The Curious George Matching Game is a great first game for children to help with matching, memory and skills in socialization by playing with a partner. The 72 matching tiles included are of sturdy quality and depict all the beloved Curious George characters (some based on the Curious George TV show that has been airing on the PBS channel since 2006) such as The Man with the Yellow Hat and Chef Pisghetti. Brooke loves the Man with the Yellow Hat and, for some reason, all the matching pieces with the farmer lady, Mrs. Rankin. The game is easy, portable, simple-to-learn and you play by just matching the most pairs to win. Perfect way to spend a few hours with your child and perhaps even finish it off by reading a Curious George book together or seeing an episode of the fun PBS show (oh, how I love that Hundley)!
About Wonder Forge: Seattle-based Wonder Forge began in 2007 with a mission to create fun and educational games for the entire family. The Toy Industry has taken notice and in just five years, Wonder Forge has earned more than 80 top toy awards. Amazing! I absolutely love Wonder Forge’s preschool sub-brand ‘I Can Do That!’ Games that create games based on children’s literature and award winning children’s shows.
About Curious George: Curious George has a curious beginning and was created by the husband and wife team, Hans Augusto (H.A.) Rey and Margret Rey during WWII. The Reys were Jewish Germans who were living in Paris when Hans published his first story that included George, Cecily G. and the Nine Monkeys. The Reys fled Paris in 1940 (on homemade bicycles!) and got a passport to come to the United States. It was there where they first published Curious George in 1941 while living in New York City under the publishing company Houghton Mifflin. Here is a little tidbit – The Man with the Yellow Hat was modeled after Adlai Stevenson and was never called by his first name although a recent Curious George movie referred to him as ‘Ted’.
