Product Review:  Edie Bird Eco-Friendly and Non-Toxic Cleaning Products Starter Bundle (Local-Centric, Austin Only)

Clean + Green and Hand-made in Austin, TX!

This is a first for me…..reviewing a product you can only buy in Austin, TX, so this one is specifically for all of my Austinite readers!  When you are on the right path it seems that things just snowball to a point where it is hard to keep up and you just have to roll with it.  Case in point, the Edie Bird cleaning product line started by a local mom (to a five year old and twin two year olds – whew!), Jenni Lafferty, who was appalled by the ingredients in the so-called all-natural cleaning products she was using on her floor when her babies started crawling.  Jenni began her quest to start eco-friendly, non-toxic household cleaning supplies that were handmade in small batches in March with the official start date in July.  Yes, that is July 2012!  Fast forward to now and her products are selling locally through the e-commerce website with local pick-up sites and at the Wheatsville co-op.  She isn’t stopped there, though, with her e-commerce site ready to take flight (ok, sorry, bad pun….Edie Bird…flight…ok, nevermind…) and Edie Bird has plans for becoming a local Farmer’s Market vendor and offer additional pick-up locations for their products.

One great way to try out the Edie Bird products is through their new Starter Bundle.  The Green + Clean motto is accurate and Jenni has personally made sure that harmful ingredients found in most cleaning products (sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens, phosphates and *ugh* chlorine) are not in line with her companies ingredients.  If you are concerned about using clean + green and wondering if the ‘clean’ works, well, I will tell you that it does.  No streaks on the dishes, no streaks on my windows and no worries of little preschooler feet on my floor soaking up harmful chemicals.  Make sure to create your online account through the Edie Bird website with your pick up location information and you are ready to get started.  Or, my local Austinites, swing by Wheatsville Co-Op today to pick some up of the laundry soap (in the bulk section) in person and try some out today!
