Product Review: Strange Dees, Indeed CD by the Deedle Deedle Dees (Age 4+)
America’s Ultimate Teaching Band
Strange, Off-beat, Eclectic. I’m not sure if I am talking about myself or the Strange Dees, Indeed album by the Deedle Deedle Dees. It is historic meets dramatic and we are definitely along for the ride. This is not your typical children’s album; dare I say it almost seems like an egghead gothic album for children and even I am a little confused as to what that means (even the cover art freaks me out a little – but in a good way). I mean, it has a song entitled “River of Blood”! But, the “River of Blood” is actually a song about your circulatory system. The song lyrics are definitely for older children as far as actually understanding the historic content behind them about some downright strange folklore or people in history like Phineas Gage who survived a terrible railroad accident when a rod got implanted in his brain. Definitely a matter of taste, but if you enjoy the bizarre mixed with the educational (plus the musically talented), you will not be disappointed! I have to mention that my husband loves this album and thinks that there needs to be more Deedle Deedle Dees strange yet historic content out there for our kids to hear.

About the Deedle Deedle Dees: The brainchild of the band is Lloyd Miller (AKA Ulysses S. Dee) who loves being the ringleader of his Brooklyn NY-based educational band for kids (and smart adults). He is a huge history buff, particularly American history if you couldn’t tell from his lyrics, and he also keeps up with three blogs. Whew, that makes me exhausted just thinking about my one lonely blog! If you live in the Queens, NY area, be sure to check out this really cheap and super fun kid’s shows (see his schedule here).
